LNR elect new president

New LNR president: Pierre-Yves Revol

The managing committee of France's Ligue Nationale de Rugby (LNR) have elected Castres boss Pierre-Yves Revol as their new president. He succeeds Serge Blanco.

Revol, who is France's longest-serviing club president still in office - at Castres Olympique since 1988 - has been given a mandate of four years to preside over the functioning of the Top 14 and ProD2.

The news comes as no surprise as the 50-year-old was expected to be elected ahead of the only other candidate, ERC president Jean-Pierre Lux.

Blanco, who occupied the role for ten years, decided to step down from his responsibilities in order to concentrate on his private business affairs and those of the club close to his heart, Biarritz.

Alain Pecastaing (Dax), Thierry Pérez (Montpellier), Max Guazzini (Stade Français) and René Boucastel (Toulouse) were the other presidents elected to represent the Top 14 clubs on Thursday.
