Perpignan hooker Marius Tincu will go before an independent appeal committee on Wednesday as he looks to overturn his 18-week ban.
The Romanian was dealt the lengthy suspension after being found guilty of "making contact with the eye/eye area" of Ospreys prop Paul James in the Heineken Cup clash on October 18.
The decision to ban front-rower Tincu left Perpignan furious, and they have subsequently threatened to withdraw from the European competition unless the decision is overturned.
Tincu will now face a committee chaired by Rod McKenzie (Scotland) and also comprising of Achille Reali (Italy) and Chris Quinlan (England).
Should Tincu fail in his appeal he faces being banned until the start of March.
