Hopeful: Perry hasn't given up on his Test career

Despite not having played for England since the 2007 Rugby World Cup, scrum-half Shaun Perry has revealed he still has ambitions to add to his 14 Test caps.

Perry, who shot to prominence after signing with Bristol from Division One club Coventry, has missed most of the last year with injury problems.

He missed the start of the Guinness Premiership season due to a shoulder injury, having missed the 2008 Six Nations with a throat injury.

In the time that Perry was out injured, having returned to club action two weeks ago, Danny Care and Harry Ellis have established themselves as England's top two number nines.

But Perry has not given up on his England desires just yet.

"I have been unfortunate with injury in the past year but I am back playing now," he told BBC Radio Bristol.

"I have only just turned 30. Hopefully, if I can put in a string of good performances and stay injury-free, then I will be knocking on the door."
