'It's good to be back': Matt Burke

Former Australia back-line star Matthew Burke has been appointed kicking coach of the Waratahs for 2009.

Burke, who is the Waratahs' highest ever points-scorer and second-most capped player, starred for New South Wales from 1992 to 2004.

The former Waratahs captain finished his playing career late last year after a knee injury prompted him to retire following a three-and-a-half year stint with England club Newcastle.

Burke's appointment completes the Waratahs coaching structure for next year.

"It's good to be back and I'm really happy to be involved with Chris and his coaching team," said Burke.

"We'll be working out a schedule over the next few weeks to target the sessions that I'll be involved in and I'm looking forward to not only offering kicking advice but some tactical assistance to the outside backs in particular."

Also joining the Waratahs as an assistant coach is current Wallabies assistant coach Michael Foley.
