Former Fijian coup leader and Fijian Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is to manage the Pacific Islanders team on its tour to England, France and Italy.
The former Test prop, who played twice for Fiji in the 1970s, is a trustee of the Fiji Rugby Union.
"It is an honour to be named as manager for the Pacific Islanders combined side, I am both delighted and very humbled," he said.
"I intend to use all my experience to ensure the squad is contented and every member can perform to the best of their ability - that is what it is all about.
"The combined Pacific Islands squad is a great concept that gives us a vital opportunity to show what we can do against Tier One nations."
