Back to Agen? Rupeni Caucaunibuca

Having quit the club - or been sacked, whichever you choose to believe - five months ago, Rupeni Caucaunibuca, who has turned down - or welched upon - all sorts of offers including one from Leicester Tigers, could return to Agen.

A report from the club said Caucau was undergoing a series of physical tests with a view to a return over the next couple of months.

Apparently, Caucau was not sacked, nor did he quit, he was merely told to go home and 're-orientate himself' after playing just three matches last season (in which he scored four tries).

"He is an exceptional player," the club's former sporting director Laurent Lubrano said of the Fijian star, whose career at Agen has been dogged by disciplinary problems and injury.

"Caucau" was named the Player of the Season in the French Top 14 championship in 2006 and was the top tryscorer in the 2005 and 2006 seasons.

Now playing in the Pro D2, Agen are in seventh spot, and desperate for a return to the big time.
